CELTIC FANS: What is the name of the song played when Celtic score at home?
It has got lyrics mate and it goes like this:
Here we go for 4 in a row
Here we go for 4 in a row
Here we go for 4 in a row
Here we go for 4 in a row.
There is an updated version being penned for next season and just for you, I have a sneaky peek at it:
Here we go for 5 in a row
Here we go for 5 in a row
Here we go for 5 ina row

Does my name susan or siwsan originate from the celtic name sulis?
Susan comes from Hebrew. It means "lily of the valley".
Does my name susan or siwsan originate from the celtic name sulis?
Well, as has been noted by others here, the name "Susan" derives from a Hebrew word for "lily."
A few variants of it are listed as "Shoshana", "Sukey", "Zsa Zsa", and "Zusa."
The name "Siwsan" would appear鈥攁nd I might be a little off on this one, as I have not found a specific listing for this name so far鈥攖o be a vairant of the Welsh name "Siwan" (Joan). It is also possible that it is a transliteration of "Susan" from the English to the Welsh鈥攂ut again, this is conjecture on my part, as I have not found "Siwsan" listed anywhere so far.
The name "Sulis" is/was the the Latin for a British goddess of healing springs. She was included with two other goddesses under the name "Sulevia." (The deific trio was refered by the plural, "Suleviae." The Irish counterpart of Sulis would be Brigid.)
This brings us to the actual answer to your question, which would be; No, sorry.
Reply:It's actually from the Hebrew, Shoshanah or Susannah.
Reply:No.
Reply:I thought the Welsh version of Susan was Siwan...Siwsan is just an adjustment in the spelling. As for it's origin,I don't know...sorry.

Does Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink's (the Celtic footballer) name indicate that he is a member of the nobility?
He's not of nobility, just of two lines that were dying out. So his grandparents decided to hyphenate the names. There were never that many Dutch nobles, so the odds are never high that you'll find nobles in a Dutch tree. In this case, he descends from generations of farmers.

Reply:Well, real "Celtic" names are pretty out there. My grandfather's name was Celtic, Cathaoir. The sort of new trend to have Irish/Scottish style names yields more attractive names such as Bevan and Curran for boys. There's always Kieran, Angus, Mostyn, Lleyton, Alasdair, Cameron, and Morgan (boys not girls)
If you were really looking for the old fashioned Celtic names there were some REAL doosies in my family. Llwyd meas grey haired and Esugenius goes way way back and means well bred.
If you were to go to Scotland today you would find that one of the most common names for men is Malcolm. Robert is always quite popular as well.
Good luck with your search but for heaven's sake please don't name that baby Cathaoir!

Is Excellion a Celtic name meaning exceed or excel?
The initial sequence of sounds [eks] is not a Celtic sequence of sounds, but a Latin or Greek one.
Is Excellion a Celtic name meaning exceed or excel?
I would have to say no.
I couldn't find it listed any where as a name.
Reply:Sounds more like a fantasised Roman name to me ... like the ones in Asterix the Gaul for example..!
Celtic languages have different roots to English and other European languages, so I see no reason to suppose that Latin words would be the root of Celtic names.

What does Dublin's Celtic name, Baile Atha Cliath, mean?
Dublin, the capital of the Republic of Ireland, has another name which is Celtic, Baile Atha Cliath. Does anyone know what it means?
What does Dublin's Celtic name, Baile Atha Cliath, mean?
The name Dublin is an Anglicism of Dubh Linn (Irish, meaning "Black Pool"), though some doubt this derivation. Historically, in the old script used for the Irish language, 'bh' was written with a dot placed over the 'b' — thus appearing to be Dub Linn or Dublinn. The Norman-speaking English who arrived in Old Irish-speaking Ireland starting in 1169 omitted the "dot" (or séimhiú in Irish), and spelled the town's name as 'Dublin'.
Meanwhile, the city's name in Modern Irish — Baile Átha Cliath ("The Town of the Ford of the Reed Hurdles") — actually refers to the settlement, founded in 988 by High King Mael Sechnaill II, which adjoined the town of Dubh Linn proper, at the Black Pool.
Some have suggested that "Dublin" is of Scandinavian origin, cf. Icelandic: "djúp lind" ("deep pond"). However, the name "Dubh Linn" pre-dates the arrival of the Vikings in Ireland, and the Old Norse (and modern Icelandic) name for Dublin is simply the words "Dubh Linn" re-spelled as if they were Old Norse: Dyflinn (correctly pronounced "DUEV-linn" - indeed, the letter 'y' is still pronounced like the vowel in "ewe" in Modern Norwegian, Swedish, etc., just as it was in Old Norse; Icelandic, while keeping the spelling, has changed this sound to /i/).
Reply:Town by the hurdle.
It is pronounced BALL-ya CLEE-ah, btw.

What are the origins and meaning of the name "Arafel"? I believe it may be Irish or Celtic?
This was my fiancee's name. She passed away a few month ago. It is such a unique name. I would like to find the origins of the name and something about its history. I know her family was of Irish ancestry, and came to America sometime in the mid 1800's.
What are the origins and meaning of the name "Arafel"? I believe it may be Irish or Celtic?
Beautiful name. Hebrew meaning cloud darkness. Sorry about your fiancee. There was only 1 Arafel in U.S. public records.
Reply:you have some arabian ancestry...and the other side came from ireland

Reply:anything ending in El or AEL is originally hebrew, or from that region, it means "of god". There was an early Hebrew / Ireland connection so it may have been passed from one region to another. I'm not sure off the top of my head what the first part "araf" means.

Alright this name might be familiar to Lakers fans
Shaquille Oneal
- Led the Lakers to their 3-peat.
- Only player I can name that has never been consistantly completely stifled in a game besides Michael Jordan. (In his prime.)
- 4 championships to Kobe's 3
- A top 50 player of all time
- A top 10 player of all time
- 3 Finals MVP awards
- Top 5 scoring average of all time
Tim Dunacn
- 3 Finals MVP Awards to Kobe's 0
- 2 Time Regular Season MVP Awards to Kobe's 1
- 4 time NBA champion
- Best PF ever. Only comparisons would be Karl Malone and Barkely, but the rings put him over the top.
I got a few more.
All Time:
Larry Bird
- 3x NBA champion
- 3x NBA Regular Season MVP
- 2x NBA Finals MVP
- VERY clutch player here's a list of games
In Game 7 of the 1981 Eastern Conference finals against the rival Philadelphia 76ers, The Sixers led all game. Inside the final minute, Boston and Philadelphia were tied 89–89 when Bird sank a fast-break mid-range pull-up bank shot with his left hand, a very difficult shot to execute under intense pressure. That basket put the Celtics up 91-89. The Sixers had a chance to win the game, but threw away the lob inbounds pass intended for Julius Erving. The Celtics' 91-90 win put them into the NBA finals for the first time since 1976 and they would go on to win the NBA championship in the Finals, beating the Houston Rockets in 6 games. In the late stages of the game, Bird also had two key steals, two free throws made, a rebound, and a blocked shot.
In 1985 (January 27th), Larry Bird hit an amazing baseline jumper at the buzzer while falling out of bounds to give the Celtics a 128-127 win over Portland.
In the series-clinching Game 6 of the 1986 Finals, Bird recorded a triple-double of 29 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists.
In Game 5 of the 1987 Eastern Conference Finals against the Detroit Pistons, with six seconds remaining in the fourth quarter and Boston trailing the Pistons 107–106, Bird stole an inbound pass from Isiah Thomas that was intended for Bill Laimbeer. Falling out of bounds, Bird turned and passed the ball to teammate Dennis Johnson, who was cutting to the basket and converted a 2-point layup with less than a second left. The Pistons called a timeout but had no chance of getting off a shot. The dramatic play saved the series for the Celtics who won in 7 games, and they advanced to the Finals.
In a game in Washington against the Bullets in 1987, the Celtics trailed the Bullets by 3 points with 6 seconds remaining in regulation. A three-pointer by Bird had been waved off because their coach, K. C. Jones, had already called a timeout. Bird then made another three-pointer to send the game into overtime. When the Celtics trailed by two points near the end of the first overtime, Bird was fouled and converted both free throws. In the second overtime, trailing by 1 point with 2 seconds remaining, Bird made a buzzer-beating running shot to win the game, 140–139.
In Game 7 of the 1988 Eastern Conference semifinals against the Atlanta Hawks, Bird shot 9 of 10 from the floor in the fourth quarter, scoring 20 points in that quarter and lifting the Celtics to a series-clinching victory over Atlanta. This effort foiled a 47 point performance by Dominique Wilkins in the same game.
On March 31, 1991, the Celtics played a double overtime game with the Chicago Bulls in their last meeting of the season. In the second overtime period, Bird scored 9 points on 4 of 5 shooting from the field and helped the Celtics beat the Bulls, 135–132. Many called this particular game Bird's finest performance against Michael Jordan.
In the last seconds of a nationally-televised regular season game with the Portland Trail Blazers in March 1992, Bird sent the game into overtime with an off balance running one-handed three-point shot. Bird tallied 49 points, 14 rebounds, 12 assists and 4 steals for his 59th and final career triple-double in what many fans called his last great game in the NBA. The Celtics won in double overtime over the Blazers, 152–148. Bird's 49 points stands as the NBA record for most points scored while registering a triple-double.
Michael Jordan, who may have followed Bird as the league's most feared clutch player through his heroics with the Chicago Bulls, once was asked who he would want to take a shot with the game on the line, other than himself. Before the question could be finished, Jordan quickly responded, "Larry Bird."

Reply:Kobe is the only player that can even be talked about on the same level as Jordan. Labron has a couple more years and needs to win some championships before he can be talked about as the be. I don't think Kobe is overrated its just..... he is kinda of looked at like the Spurs team you love to hate him.
Reply:Jordan, Wilt, Russell, Kareem, Magic, Olajuwon, Shaq. I'll put Kobe in the top 10 when his career is over but he has to win the title first. I mean his own title not the ones he got riding Shaq's coat tails. Because those guys played complete games. You never saw Shaq going 7 for 23 in a big game, it just didn't happen, those guys made everyone better. Kobe looked great tonight. That was like Jordan except Jodan was like that every time though.

Need a good Celtic name for a little boy....?
Found out that I am having a little boy and need some great name ideas. We were looking the Celtic/Scottish/Irish route because that covers both of our backgrounds and would go great with our last name. Our last name begins with Mac and is three syllables. I like Liam, Gavin, Dylan. I would also like to fit the name Michael in for the middle name.
Ok, have at it! I look forward to seeing all your suggestions!

Whats the name of the song used during the Boston Celtic player introductions in the NBA Finals this year?
The beat playing in the background was 50 Cent's Aye Yo Technology featuring Justin Timberlake %26amp; Timbaland. Timbaland also produced the beat.

What is the name of the drawing that is by Leonardo Da Vinci that is full of Celtic knot work?
I have only seen this drawing once in a book and would love to know what it is or where I can view it online. I have done searches as well and am not having any luck.....so I came to you!
What is the name of the drawing that is by Leonardo Da Vinci that is full of Celtic knot work?
I believe that the work you are talking about is called the Sala delle Asse, but it wasn't a drawing, it was painted on a ceiling. That is if that's the work you are talking about. A part from that I don't think he has any other work with celtic knots unless you are thinking of something different.
This site has a picture of it as well as a small history of the work as well as other of this works.

Reply:I am also certain that you are referring to drawings that Leonardo made to illustrate a manuscript-treatise by the Renaissance mathematician Luca Pacioli - De divina proportione. A page of his sketches for what is described in the text of a catalogue of ta L.V exhibition held in London in 1989 as drawings of a "skeletal version of truncated and stelleted dodecahedrons (a body of 12 pentagonal faces) which has been truncated to produce alternate triangular and pentagonal facaes, and then stellated with 3 and 5 sided pyramids" - (if you understand that you're a genius!)
The page on view at this exhibition was on loan from the University of St. Andrews Library in Scotland.

What is the name of the song the fiddler for Celtic Woman plays right before "Somewhere" in the Xmas Special?
It's an amazing fiddle tune with just drums and a fiddle. It's in the Christmas Special they've been showing on WGBH. It comes about 1/2 hour before the end of the show... can anyone PLEASE tell me the name of that song?
What is the name of the song the fiddler for Celtic Woman plays right before "Somewhere" in the Xmas Special?
Its called The Contradiction. It really 2 songs by Mairead Nesbitt. The first part is called Shenandoah/The Contradiction. This combo was done on the New Journey tours in 2007 and 2008.
Glad you like it but be advised I have no love for WGBH after what they did to us almost 2 years ago. I wouldn't be supporting them if I were you.

What's a name that means "of the ocean" like a celtic name or something?
i cant find a name that means that, like i can find "of the ocean" in every language but not just a name that means it.
What's a name that means "of the ocean" like a celtic name or something?
Is it for a person or a thing? "Aqueous" would seem pretty close. If its for a person then "Ronan" is Celtic and means little seal (not really of the ocean though).
Poseidon was a the Greek god of the sea so that's a good one. Neptune was the Roman god of the sea.
Oceanic seems obvious. It really depends what you want the name for.
If its for a boat then how about The Davey Jones?

What's a name that means "of the ocean" like a celtic name or something?
Is it for a person or a thing? "Aqueous" would seem pretty close. If its for a person then "Ronan" is Celtic and means little seal (not really of the ocean though).
Poseidon was a the Greek god of the sea so that's a good one. Neptune was the Roman god of the sea.
Oceanic seems obvious. It really depends what you want the name for.
If its for a boat then how about The Davey Jones?
Reply:don't know if any of these will help?

Why is the Scottish team with the name Celtic called Seltic?
Celtic is pronounced 'Seltic' on the insistence of one of the Club's most prominent founders - Brother Walfrid. Originally from Ireland himself, he help establish Celtic so that they could fund the many soup kitchens in the east end of Glasgow that were run by the Catholic Church. Interestingly, the name that was first muted was Glasgow Hiberninans to reflect the Irish input. However, it was decided that a better name would be Celtic and Brother Walfrid insisted that pronouncing it 'Seltik' in a fashion as to how most Scots speak could reflect both a Scottish and irish identity. An identity the club still maintains today.
Why is the Scottish team with the name Celtic called Seltic?
because in english "c" is pronounced like either "s" of "k"
Reply:The same reason Cilla Black is "Silla" and not "Killa". C can be pronounced either as S or K, and the followers of the club pronounced it as an S, although as you presumably know the word celtic is normally pronounced as a K. I suspect that this is purely because they were unfamiliar with the word "celtic" when the club chose that as their name, and consequently mispronounced it.
Reply:maybe its something to do with ireland everything else to do with scoish football is
Reply:It isn't. It's PRONOUNCED Seltic because that's the way we do things in this country. A letter "C" followed by the letter "E" is always pronounced as a "soft" C.
Cat, cauldron... Hard C
Cedric, Cecil, ceiling - Soft C

What is the name of the Celtic Piece at the end of this video?
It's a common tune that I've heard many times. Strong emphasis on the strings and some drums for effect. It's slightly warrior-ish and has been used on many football commercials. Thus understandably it was used for this You-Tube Video on Barry Sanders. But I want to find the music so I can just listen to that! LOL! Please help!

It is from the soundtrack of the film "Last of the Mohicans" (1992); it is called "I Will Find You", by Clannad.

What is the name of the celtic symbol of trust and where can i find a picture of it?
The Celts themselves left very little in the way of records, and most symbols are interpreted by archaeologists and other scholars who study the symbols in context. Some ancient Celtic symbols have changed in meaning over time, having been influenced by the introduction of Christianity and the influence of other cultures.
A general rule of thumb is: the shape of the design often determines the "meaning" of a knotwork design- triskele and trefoil shapes should be regarded as triskeles, bird, fish, and animal designs represent the attributes of the animal, etc. Circles represent unity or eternity, spirals reincarnation or cycles of life and rebirth, triangles and trefoils the threefold dominions of earth, sea, and sky. Squares or four-fold shapes are shield knots, symbols of protection from spirits or malevolent influence. Interlaced animals and men usually represent relationships, or emphasize the interdependence of mankind and nature.

Isn't it the Claddaugh?? I am alittle sure of this. I know it does mean faithfull love and trust. It is 2 hands holding a heart.

How would you pronounce the Greek name Menoeceus and the Celtic name Speir (also spelt Speirr)?
About the first, I don't think you ve got the right spelling, the "oe" is not used in greek. About the second, sorry, don't know.

Name of Celtic music from Nike commercial?
There is a Nike Football commercial running right now with Shawne Merriman and Steven Jackson. There is a great piece of Celtic music playing while they are running down the field, etc. Does anyone know the name of this piece of music? I'm convinced I heard it during a movie before, but can't remember where.
Name of Celtic music from Nike commercial?
The track is called Promentory. the Kiss is a slower and sad version of that song. The greatest soundtrack of all time.
Reply:It's from the movie last of the Mohicans. On the original soundtrack, the song is called "The Kiss"
Reply:I believe it's from " The Last of the Mohicans" soundtrack.
Reply:You are right it is from a movie. It's from The Last of the Mohicans ('92). The soundtrack is by Trevor Jones and Randy Edelman. The main theme of the movie is taken from the tune The Gael by Scottish singer-songwriter Dougie MacLean.

What is with the name change of the celtic fans?
Just curious why aldle has her name has i hate boruc and gemma has bluenose for the week? I was away because of personal stuff. So what is the deal?
What is with the name change of the celtic fans?
yep as they said,Chas was so confident that celtic would win that it was his idea about the bet about a name and avatar change.
Adele I was the one that came up with your name(sorry),it was either that or Nacho's lover lol
I was going to be maloney's lover(yuck) if rangers lost,so you can guess how thankful I was when we won lol
Reply:we all said we would do it...so here I am with the lovely name that Chas chose for me.
it's coming off on Sunday..just thinking up a new one so I can hold my head up high again lol
Artur if you read this I LOVE YOU...they made me do it :-)
Reply:chas said before the game, that if your rivals won, you have a namechange - for a week.
hence the confusion.
all in good jest, thank goodness Rangers won - his moniker for me was "Gayman of Ibrox"
Reply:I have a screen dump of Adele using her new name, for future reference, (casting up, in other words).
Reply:I'm Afraid Chas suggested the losers wore something blue and a name change as well. For one week thankfully. :) x
Reply:just some pish about a bet over the Old Firm game.
Chas has changed to Rangers SPL champions and his hair is blue

Strong Celtic First Name to go with Biblical/Italian Middle Name?
I am due in mid-January and we have no idea what to name our first baby boy. His middle name will definitely be Joseph, which is the middle name of my late father, as well as my brother. My family is Italian and my husband's is Irish, so we would like to honor the heritage of both families.
Our daughters are Katherine and Abigail, and so we would like something that goes nicely with their names.

Selltic
Reply:sel tic
Reply:The C is pronounced as in ceiling, hope that helps
Reply:the tims is easier
Reply:It's meant to sound like Seltic but strangely their fans say Selik and do it through the nasal passages. It's a blooming shame.

I like the first name 'Titouan' for a boy (French/celtic name). How does it sound in English?
I am French living in UK, so I care about how this name can resonate in a foreign language and especially if it can mean something negative.
I like the first name 'Titouan' for a boy (French/celtic name). How does it sound in English?
As another poster stated, "tit" is a rather crude term for a breast. Just reading the name Titouan, that was the first thing I thought of.
Reply:"Tit" is a vulgar slang word for breast. You should keep that in mind.

I need a welsh or celtic girls name and a possible good matching middle name?
I am currently pregnant with my 3rd child and have picked out the name Cai if its a boy, but i dont have a clue for a girls name. I have 2 boys already and the only girls name that i really liked was Nerice, but i ended up calling my second son Rhyce Bastian, because i wasnt sure i wanted another child. I need a middle name that works with Cai for a boy, and i need a welsh girls name, and i like Cai for a boy but am not keen on it for a girl. Help!
I need a welsh or celtic girls name and a possible good matching middle name?
Gosh, I am not too sure what to tell you other than I'm struggling with names too. I found a fun website, that is pretty extensive. It has a great listing of various names for different heritages:
www.babynameaddicts.com
I did a quick search on girls names (starting with "c"), in the Welsh category and came up with Catrin.
Check out the site and best wishes!
Reply:Bronwyn seems popular for a girl. Madoc for boys middle name.
Reply:Ciara for a girl is Irish/Celtic. Maeve, Aishling, Inagh, and Gwendolynne are good girls names too. Usually a more traditional name is used for a middle name, like from a family member.
Reply:welsh names have really complicated spellings because in the welsh language, the pronunciations of many sounds require numerous letters. take the welsh name Gwenwhyfar.....the common version you see of this name is Guinevere, the French version. see what i mean? but now that i've bored you with linguistics, names that have Gwen in them are commonly welsh. like Gwennyth, Gwendolyn, etc.. i personally like Gwennyth and Gwenaeryn.....but there are tons of celtic names that have nothing to do with gwen... try babynamesofireland.com they're a very helpful site!
this site has welsh names http://www.babynames.org.uk/welsh-baby-n...
