I am looking for some really nice Irish names for both girls and boys. I am not a fan of common or typical names.. would like something unusual. I do have Talula and Keegan on our list.

All are slightly different styles of Celtic, some loud, some soft, some vocal, some mostly instrumental . . . . all have an online presence. Many have a page on MySpace. Some have tunes on Playlist %26amp; other places. Investigate Celtic Radio, an online thing. Flogging Molly, the Pogues, %26amp; that whole sort might be a little heavy duty for someone liking Enya - - I like them, but they are a whole different ballgame for the most part. Geoffrey Castle is another, although he's not entirely Celtic . . . but very mesmerizing music.

Ever heard of a celtic/ irish ring that unravels if you take it off??? whats the name for them?

My boyfriend is irish and we were talking about rings and he said a few years back he came across a ring that was braided and if you ever took it off it would collapse. He said the story was that a man thought his wife was cheating on him so he got her this type of ring so if she ever took it off and it fell apart then he would know. Or something like that!! Anyway i want one and cant find one so if anyone knows what im talking about let me know!!

Given that the names of several Celtic deities come from the Brythonic language family?

And given that in the Modern Brythonic tongues (Breton, Cornish %26amp; Welsh) there is no "soft C" sound. Would It be fitting in ritual circumstances to pronounce the names of deities such as Cernunnos, Ceridwen, and Latinized deities such as Cocidius, Condatis %26amp; Clota with a "K" sound?


Even her in the Uk I`ve heard several pagans call upon "Seridwen".....

Definitely the hard "K" sound for the native names. Latinized names, you might stumble across some that've been softened, but I'd have to say that the hard sound is a good rule of thumb.
Reply:I've (thankfully) never heard anyone call her Seridwen. The hard K is not only acceptable but correct for Ceridwen and Cernunnos. (I'm not familiar with the other three). Just like its kelt, not selt, no matter what the American basketbal team (the Boston Celtics) thinks.
